Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday — Manhattan Flagship
Projection-mapped façade animation across the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship in Manhattan during the holiday season. A street-stopping moment on one of the most-visited shopping corners in the world — done through Integrated Visions. Architectural projection on a flagship retail facade, engineered to run nightly through the holiday season.
Saks Fifth Avenue’s holiday window-and-façade show is an annual New York set-piece — crowds gather on Fifth Avenue every winter to watch it. Pixel Rain provided the projection content for one of those holiday seasons, working through Integrated Visions as the on-site production partner
What the projection did
The Saks flagship facade was projection-mapped with a layered animation — cursive "Saks Fifth Avenue New York" signature script swept across the building, holiday motifs cascaded between floors, and the building’s window grid was integrated into the animation rather than fought against. The mapping had to register cleanly to the Beaux-Arts architecture of the 1924 building, with the projection accenting rather than obscuring the original detail.
Why this kind of activation is harder than it looks
A façade projection that works for an annual holiday season has to hold up to night after night of continuous run, sit in a high-foot-traffic Fifth Avenue context where pedestrians stop and look up, and survive the unforgiving New York winter (rain on the projectors, cold on the gear, snow on the optical paths). The content has to be brand-grade at every frame because every frame is being photographed by tourists and sent worldwide.
