VIRTUAL PRODUCTION
Virtual Production — The LED Volume at Litewave Studios
An LED Volume for in-camera virtual production in St. Petersburg, Florida — 192 panels of HoloDeck 2.6i, VIVE Mars camera tracking, and real-time Unreal Engine media. Pixel Rain is the virtual-production partner.
At Litewave Studios we run an LED Volume that fuses real and virtual worlds in-camera — the same class of stage used in high-end episodic and feature virtual production. Actors perform in front of a wall of LED rather than a green screen, with the virtual environment rendered live and tracked to the camera, so what the lens sees is what ends up on screen.
The stack
192 panels of HoloDeck 2.6i with PantaBlack V4 high-contrast LED. VIVE Mars for camera tracking. Aximetry for media serving and processing. Unreal Engine and disguise for real-time set extension, AR overlay, and lens calibration. Pixel Rain owns the camera-tracking system and the GPU server that drive the volume.
What we do
We operate the virtual-production side of the stage — integrating the LED wall, camera tracking, and real-time media into a single gen-locked pipeline, so productions can shoot final-pixel environments in-camera. Real-time set extension, in-camera visual effects, and virtual sets, on a stage fifteen minutes from Tampa.
