PERMANENT INSTALLATION
Dollar General HQ — Hall of Values
Six permanent interactive software installations in the main lobby of Dollar General’s corporate headquarters in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Built with Creative Arts Unlimited. Software-first work for a Fortune 100 retailer. Five interactive systems across a corporate visitor lobby — touchscreens, real-time recipe builders, projection map, and multimedia stations. Engineered to run every day for years.
Dollar General operates more than 20,000 stores across the U.S. Their corporate HQ in Goodlettsville is a designed brand-experience environment — the main lobby includes a Boody Fine Arts-curated 200+ piece art collection, and the six interactives Pixel Rain built sit inside that environment. Employees and visitors walk past them every day.
What we built
Touchscreen projection map. A projected United States map showing the Dollar General store footprint — touch-driven, with regional drill-down and live data tied to the store network.
Interactive recipe book maker. Visitors browse Dollar General recipes on a large touchscreen, add the recipes they want to a cart, then email the cart to themselves as a PDF — a self-serve interactive that turns the lobby into a brand-product touchpoint.
Touchscreen quiz. A guided interactive quiz that walks visitors through Dollar General’s values, history, and community impact — built to engage employees, vendors, and visitors on the same lobby floor.
Multimedia touchscreen video interactives. The remaining pieces are layered touchscreen + video installations covering company history (J.L. Turner roots), serving communities, and the brand’s core values.
Hall of Values context
The Hall of Values is the Dollar General corporate HQ’s main-lobby brand environment — designed to walk employees, vendors, and visitors through the company’s values, history, and store footprint. Pixel Rain’s five interactives sit inside a curated 200+ piece art collection assembled by Boody Fine Arts, which handled the broader environmental design.
Software-first work
Unlike many of Pixel Rain’s projection-based installations, the Dollar General HQ lobby is software-first — real interactivity, user state, data binding, email-out functionality. The kind of work that requires real product engineering, not just creative content.
